Mr. Zamiara is a Math Teacher at LNC, but there is more to him than just numbers and graphs.
Zamiara, aka Coach Z the name that his runners refer to him as, has been running ever since he could. Throughout his time in High School and College, Coach Z ran competitively. He is the Cross Country and Track Coach at LNC.
Coach Z said, “I ran track all four years in high school and my freshman year in college at Western Michigan University as a middle distance runner.”
One might ask, “What got him into coaching?”
For Coach Z, it runs through the blood. His uncle was an outstanding High School and College Cross Country Coach and he is also the person where Coach Z got his principles from.
Coach Z stated, “I was very fortunate to have an uncle who was an amazing high school/college coach for these sports and seeing how he used his knowledge/love of running to inspire others made me want to do the same.”
Like every season, he plans to apply these principles to every runner, so he can meet his ultimate goal. He knows his group is talented and believes he can bring back another state championship.
Coach Z states, “We have a very strong returning girls team this year and they should be one of the top teams at regionals. I hope to place higher at the state championships with these girls and bring home a couple state champions individually or as relays. The boys team is building and I hope to qualify in multiple events for the state championships this year.”
As stated earlier, Coach Z handles both the Cross Country and Track team, but which does he like more?
“I was a distance runner my whole life so I am initially drawn to cross country but the ability to see an entire race as I can during track is very exciting” declares Coach Z.
Of course he has a life outside of school and running. Mr. Zamiara is an avid outdoors man. He loves hiking, camping, and ice fishing. He’s even gone skydiving multiple times in his life.
He’s a math teacher, a running coach, an outdoor enthusiast, he is Mr. Do it all!
