The golf team had a great season lead by Coach Fabian and Coach Kee. Although the team only had four players, the season was a success. Each player on the team improved throughout the season and team captain, Josie Fisher, had the opportunity to participate in regionals.
Cross Country –
The Men’s Cross Country Team had a great season. The team won second place in conference and has come together throughout the season.
The Lady Knights have had a great season, winning conference. The top seven runners will be heading to states led by upperclassmen Izzy Evely and Mariah Howlett. The team, who is ranked first in the state, is continuing to work hard to prepare. Their average 5k time is an impressive 19:40.
“We are ranked first in the state thanks to Coach Zamiara, who trains us very wisely.”
“Cross country is really a special atmosphere due to the closeness that develops throughout the season. Everyone is there to support each other and help push them to be the best they can be. Zamiara is a great coach and has took a great focus on not only developing the team, but each individual to be their best.”
The Men’s Soccer Team is having a great season with a conference record of 8-3-1. The team is second in conference with two weeks to prepare for states. Senior Connor Hahn is the Knight’s top scorer with seventeen goals and seven assists this season. The team is still working hard to prepare for states.
This year, the JV and Varsity volleyball teams participated in a new 2A only conference: The South Fork Conference. The JV team consisted of eleven freshmen and two sophomores. With so many new girls to the team, the team did very well, finishing around the .500 mark.
The varsity team lost 6 seniors last year, making it a rebuilding year. They played well considering the new conference is a tough with several veteran teams. The team came together throughout the season and The team had amazing leadership from the three seniors: Amy Coleman, Sydney Garrison, and Maria Rose.
“The team may not have finished with the record they wanted but they played hard, dug deep, and didn’t give up. Success is not always measured by wins and losses but how you grow as a team, how you better your ability as a player and the sportsmanship you demonstrate on the court at all times. Based on that, the 2017 season was a huge success!”
Women’s Tennis –
The women’s tennis team is having a great season with a record of 7-0 in conference. The undefeated team won conference and won the first round of state playoffs on Wednesday, October 18th. Zoe Panizza, Lauren Bush and team captain Annie Thomas all advanced to the Regionals Individuals tournament. Over the past four years, the team has an unbelievable record of 63-1.
Both JV and Varsity teams are rebuilding this year. The teams have been working hard daily to improve their skills and be the best they can be.
